The Little Black Bin

What Happened

Ms. K should have been getting a discount for using the smallest black garbage bin, but she wasn’t. She called Solid Waste Management Services, who told her that she did not have a bin at all. Ms. K gave them the identifying number on her bin and even provided pictures of it. For about a year, every time she called, staff told her she did not have the bin. Ms. K contacted our office for assistance.

What We Did

After speaking with Ms. K, we contacted the City to discuss the matter. We were told that Revenue Services was in charge of billing and depended on Solid Waste Management Services to give them the correct information. We spoke to both divisions and managed to get the mistake corrected.

The Result

Ms. K received credit dating back to when she began using the small black bin and is now receiving the correct bill for producing less waste.
