Statement from Ombudsman Susan E. Opler on the TTC’s new Investigation Unit

At the Special Meeting on May 13, 2020, the Board of Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) voted to establish a new Investigation Unit to receive and respond to complaints involving TTC Special Constables and Fare Inspectors. The decision came as a direct result of recommendations made by Ombudsman Toronto in a 2019 Enquiry Report, all of which were accepted by the TTC.
 
“We are pleased the TTC is implementing our recommendations to improve its accountability to riders,” says Ombudsman Susan Opler. “We will continue to monitor its progress as we work to improve the fairness, transparency and public trust in vital City services that so many of us rely on.”
